INTRODUCTION

On the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European ,  the Biblioteca Virtual del Patrimonio Bibliográfico presents this compilation of resources from our collection that are about, or come from, Europe.

The European Union is a political community constituted in a sui generis regime. This international organization was born to propel the integration and common governance of the peoples of Europe. It is comprised of sovereign independent countries called Member States.

The President of the Spanish Government will take charge of the Kingdom of Spain's fifth presidency on 1 July 2023. This Presidency is organized in close cooperation with all government ministries, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its permanent representatives in the UE in Brussels, as well as other institutions both on national and European levels. The last time Spain held the presidency of the Council of the EU was in the first half of 2010. 

The Subdirección General de Coordinación Bibliotecaria would like to give visibility to the resources held in the BVPB's collection that are in some way related to Europe. Maps of Europe and its countries, monographies about European history, photographs of both important places and figures, and agricultural reviews can be found among them.
