Bote de Subh - Prueba =Pyxis of Subh

Notes: Arqueta cilíndrica encargada por Alhaquen II para una favorita, según se indica en la inscripción. Es cilíndrica y tiene tapa cónica que se articula y cierra con bisagra y broche de plata nielada. Toda la superficie de la pieza está cubierta con decoración de ataurique de hojas dentadas, digitadas y anilladas y palmetas, entre las que se intercalan en disposición afrontada pavones, gacelas y otras aves. La decoración se halla enmarcada por cenefas de cordoncillo. La talla es muy delicada, acusando fuerte claroscuro.
A cylindrical casket commissioned by Alhaquen II for a favourite, as indicated in the inscription. It is cylindrical and has a conical lid that hinges and closes with a hinge and a nielloed silver clasp. The entire surface of the piece is covered with ataurique decoration of serrated, fingered and ringed leaves and palmettes, interspersed with peacocks, gazelles and other birds facing each other. The decoration is framed by corded borders. The carving is very delicate, with strong chiaroscuro

Inscription: God's blessing to the Imam, the slave of God, to Hakam Al Mustansir bi'llah the Prince of the Believers. From what has been ordered to be done for the lady mother of Prince 'Abd el Rahman, under the direction of Durri As Saghir, in the year 353 H.

Historia del Objeto: Esta pieza, elaborada en talleres cordobeses como denuncia su inscripción y técnica, se encontraba en la catedral de Zamora, cuando se adquirió en 1911, y de ahí su denominación.
History of the object: This piece, made in workshops in Cordoba, as its inscription and technique indicate, was in Zamora Cathedral when it was acquired in 1911, hence its name.
